Abstract
We present an aperture-coupled microstrip antenna for mobile applicati ons. The antenna is investigated experimentally and its measured imped ance and radiation properties are verified by a cavity model. A theory for an aperture-coupled microstrip antenna at higher-order modes is d eveloped by application of the cavity model, and the characteristics a t the TM(11) mode are reported. A maximum bandwidth of about 8% is ach ieved. The investigations may be useful for low-angle scanning applica tions using conical beams. (C) 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
