Metal exchange between the lithium amide MeSi[SiMe(2)N-(Li)Bu(t)](3) a
nd TICl yields the corresponding thallium amide MeSi[SiMe(2)N(Tl)Bu(t)
](3) 1 which aggregates in the solid through weak attractive TI TI int
eractions to form infinite molecular chains; competing redox chemistry
leads to the dimetallated species HC[SiMe(2)N(Tl)Bu(t)](2)[SiMe(2)NHB
u(t)] 2 in the analogous metal-exchange process involving the trisilyl
methane derivative.
