Abstract
We give an exact solution of the five-dimensional relativity equations , and interpret it using the induced-matter formalism wherein geometry in 5D gives rise to matter in 4D. The solution represents oscillation s of ordinary 3D space where the associated medium has the equation of state of the classical de Sitter vacuum. We outline implications for the inflationary universe model.
