We report here the results of DC magnetization (M) and heat-capacity m
easurements on the compound TmCu2Si2. Although the results show that t
his compound is paramagnetic above 3 K, M in the paramagnetic state te
nds to saturate with the application of magnetic field. This spectacul
ar behaviour of M mimics that known for single-crystal specimens of Tm
Zn and we attribute this ferromagnetic-like tendency to strong 4f quad
rupole couplings.
