Over a 4-year period, we considered percutaneous balloon angioplasty f
or aortic coarctation in 27 adult patients (17 men and 10 women, mean
age 31.8 years, range 16 to 58), which was successfully performed in 2
3 patients. Our experience suggests that percutaneous balloon angiopla
sty is a feasible and safe procedure in adults with coarctation of the
aorta, and should be considered routinely in adults with this conditi
on.
