Ma. Elbestawi et al., SURFACE-TOPOGRAPHY CHARACTERIZATION IN FINISH MILLING, International journal of machine tools & manufacture, 34(2), 1994, pp. 245-255
This paper examines the surface topography characteristics of steel wo
rkpieces in finish machining using end mills. The investigation is con
ducted through computer simulation and cutting tests for stable machin
ing, low immersion ratios, and finish feeds. The results show good agr
eement between the simulation and the experimental results for sharp a
nd moderately worn tools. The model presented in this study could, the
refore, be implemented in CAD/CAM packages.
