SPONTANEOUS REGRESSION OF HEPATOCELLULAR-CARCINOMA

Spontaneous regression of a histologically proven hepatocellular carci noma was observed in a 62-yr-old male Slovenian patient with HBsAg-pos itive liver cirrhosis and a remarkable family history of hepatocellula r carcinoma, After 3 months of persistent high fever, the patient's co ndition improved, and liver resection was performed, Histological exam ination of resected liver specimen revealed necrosis with pseudocapsul ar lining and no malignant cells, The patient is alive, without eviden ce of recurrence, 8 yr after the diagnosis was established.
