Abstract
A case of an 87 year old woman with carcinomatous sigmoid colon, found to be of group A, with acquired B status, is reported. The acquired B phenotype was confirmed by the absence of a B allele in the patient u sing denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis of a DNA fragment amplifi ed from the ABO locus by the polymerase chain reaction.
