F. Zack et al., FIBROMUSCULAR DYSPLASIA OF CORONARY-ARTERIES AS A RARE CAUSE OF DEATH, International journal of legal medicine, 108(4), 1996, pp. 215-218
A case of fibromuscular dysplasia of the coronary arteries in a 15-yea
r-old boy is reported. After a quarrel involving no violence the boy s
uddenly suffered from ventricular fibrillation, collapsed and was init
ially successfully defibrillated. After 37 days of deep unconsciousnes
s the boy died of bronchopneumonia. The cause of the ventricular fibri
llation was clarified only after histological investigations. Fibromus
cular dysplasia of the coronary arteries with narrowing was found, whi
ch has very occasionally been described in the literature. However, it
s localization in the A-V node artery, as described here, only seems t
o have been observed once.
