Abstract
Diel emergence patterns of adult Bathyplecles curculionis, an introduc ed parasite of the alfalfa weevil, were investigated at two photoperio ds, 14L:10D and 10L:14D, at 20 degrees C in the laboratory. Emergence at each photoperiod occurred in a specific time interval (emergence ga te) that began around dawn and continued for four hours. Male and fema le wasps had the same emergence gate. The emergence gate at 14L:10D, t he more natural photoperiod, occurred slightly later than the emergenc e gate of the shorter photophase.
