The structures of bis{[1,2-bis-(diphenylphosphino)ethane]nickel(II)} p
erchlorate acetonitrile solvate, [Ni2(SPh)2(dppe)2]-(ClO4)2.2MeCN (1),
and benzenethiolato)(triphenylphosphino)palladium(II)] acetonitrile s
olvate, [Pd2(SPh)4(PPh3)2].MeCN (2), have been determined by X-ray dif
fraction. The dinuclear [Ni2(SPh)2(dppe)2]2+ cation is crystallographi
cally centrosymmetric about the midpoint of Ni ... Ni' and is formed b
y the edge sharing of two square-planar NiP2S2 Coordinations. The dinu
clear [Pd2(SPh)4(PPh3)2] MolecUle is located on a crystallographic inv
ersion centre at (0,0,0) and comprises two PdPS3 coordination planes s
haring two mu-SPh ligands.
