Extensions of field-oriented control methods for induction machines, a
ccounting for magnetic saturation, are developed, The new methods are
based on a nonlinear pi model for the saturated machine, This model is
a more accurate represention of the saturation phenomena in the machi
ne than are most previous models, and it is shown to also facilitate d
evelopment of control algorithms, Observers for estimating rotor flux
are also discussed. Experimental results verifying operation of one pr
oposed control method are presented.
