Abstract
In the years from 1991 to 1994 ripening dynamics trials were carried o ut at Nagygombos experimental site. The main objective was to study qu alitative and quantitative characteristics of some Martonvasar bred wi nter wheat varieties (MvM, Mv 18, My 19 and Mv 21) concerning delayed harvest and late nitrogen topdressing impacts. The paper deals with th e quantitative aspects (hectolitre weight, protein and gluten content) of the experiment. All wheat plots were harvested at four different t imes after full maturity. According to the results, figures of hectoli tre weight decreased to different extents due to delayed harvest. The protein and the gluten content did not change significantly. Top dress ing induced protein content with about 0.5-1.5%, and with an exception of Martonvasari 18 variety, this had an effect on gluten content as w ell. There were varietal differences concerning the utilization of exc ess nitrogen provided by topdressing. Climatic effects - mainly the pr ecipitation - of the four experimental years had essential influence i n ripening, however there were varietal differences, too.
