M. Golding et al., ESTABLISHMENT AND CHARACTERIZATION OF 2 CELL-LINES DERIVED FROM A PRIMARY ADENOCARCINOMA OF THE DUODENUM, JCP. Clinical molecular pathology, 49(1), 1996, pp. 33-39
Aims-To establish two cell. lines from a primary duodenal adenocarcino
ma; to describe the morphological, growth, ploidy, and immunophenotypi
c characteristics of these cell lines. Methods-The cell lines, designa
ted DAC/S and DAC/E, were characterised using both in vitro and in viv
o cell culture techniques, light and electron microscopy, immunocytoch
emistry, and FAGS analyses. Results-Both cell lines have an epithelial
origin, are aneuploid and display characteristics of transformed cell
s. The cell lines differ from each other in morphology, doubling time
and serum requirements. These cell lines are anchorage dependent and d
o not grow in nude mice. Conclusions-DAC/S and DAC/E cell lines are de
rived from neoplastic epithelium and could provide in vitro model syst
ems for future investigations of the cell and molecular biology of duo
denal neoplasia.
