Abstract
A 2D shape metric for binary, closed, connected digital curves without any holes is presented and its implementation to irregular shapes is described. This 2D shape metric, applicable to binary images, has the advantages of having a closed form solution and being rotationally inv ariant. Potential applications to biomedical imaging are also discusse d.
