O. Tsukamoto et al., TRANSIENT HEAT-TRANSFER CHARACTERISTICS OF SUPERCRITICAL HELIUM AND STABILITY ANALYSIS OF CCICS, Cryogenics, 36(3), 1996, pp. 183-188
It is likely that a quench in the cable-in-conduit internally cooled s
uperconductor (CCICS) is started by a quench of a single strand of the
cable caused by strand motion. The disturbance due to strand motion i
s highly localized and of short duration. Therefore, to determine the
stability of CCICS, we need to analyze the stability of the strand sub
ject to the localized and short duration disturbance. For this stabili
ty analysis, we investigated the transient heat transfer from a single
strand to supercritical helium (SHE) based on measured data. The pape
r presents a model to determine the transient heat transfer and also t
he results of stability analysis oi CCICS.
