K. Noto et al., STABILITY OF BRONZE-PROCESSED (NB,TI)(3)SN SUPERCONDUCTING WIRE REINFORCED AND STABILIZED WITH CUNB IN-SITU COMPOSITES, Cryogenics, 36(3), 1996, pp. 225-228
The stability of two kinds of conductors, CuNb/(Nb,Ti)(3)Sn and Cu/(Nb
,Ti)(3)Sn has been studied in order to obtain basic information for th
e future compact design of high field superconducting magnets using a
(Nb,Ti)(3)Sn conductor stabilized with a high strength-high conductivi
ty CuNb in-situ composite. From the results of experiments and numeric
al analyses on minimum quench energy (MOE) and quench front propagatio
n velocity, it was found that there is no substantial degradation of t
he stability in the conductor stabilized and reinforced with CuNb in-s
itu composite, suggesting a possibility of the future compact design o
f a high field superconducting magnet using a CuNb/(Nb,Ti)(3)Sn conduc
tor.
