P. Migon, EVOLUTION OF GRANITE LANDSCAPES IN THE SUDETES (CENTRAL-EUROPE) - SOME PROBLEMS OF INTERPRETATION, Proceedings of the Geologists' Association, 107, 1996, pp. 25-37
Major problems concerning the origin and development of granite landsc
apes in the Sudetes are discussed, with special reference to particula
r landforms, such as marginal depressions, inselbergs and related hill
s, and microforms of rock surfaces. Types of granite terrains and diff
erent weathering mantles are also briefly described. Two factors contr
olling the development of granite Forms are considered: structural pro
pel ties of bedrock and external climatic influences. Discussions abou
t the age and palaeoclimatic significance of individual landforms are
summarized.
