H. Taniguchi et al., LASING BEHAVIOR IN A LIQUID SPHERICAL DYE-LASER CONTAINING HIGHLY SCATTERING NANOPARTICLES, Optics letters, 21(4), 1996, pp. 263-265
With the addition of scattering nanoparticles to dye-doped spherical d
roplets, lasing has been observed with well-defined thresholds in inpu
t-output data. One-order or more magnitude enhancement of peak intensi
ty from droplet emission has been obtained with certain (optimum) addi
tive scattering particles compared with nonadditive scattering particl
es (neat dye-doped droplets). Characteristics of input-output intensit
ies, emission spectra (with wavelength shifts), and spectral linewidth
s are reported experimentally, depending on additive quantities of sca
ttering nanoparticles. (C) 1996 Optical Society of America
