Abstract
Cyclic ketone 12, prepared from racemic O-benzyl-1,2:4,5-di-O-cyclohex ylidene-myo-inositol (4), was converted into the tertiary alcohols 13 and 20 by treatment with methyl-magnesium bromide and (benzyloxymethyl )lithium, respectively. Deoxygenation, followed by hydrogenolysis of t he benzyl protective groups, furnished the title compounds 2 and 3.
