Gn. Mahesh et al., STUDY OF IONOMER BLENDS BASED ON A POLYURETHANE CATIONOMER AND AN ACRYLIC ANIONOMER, Macromolecular rapid communications, 17(2), 1996, pp. 73-80
Polyurethane and polyurethane cationomers were synthesized using 2,3-d
ihydroxypyridine and 2,3-dihydroxypyridine hydrochloride as chain exte
nders. Poly(butyl methacrylate-co-methacrylic acid) was synthesized by
free radical solution polymerization and was converted into its sodiu
m salt. The polyurethane cationomer and the acrylic anionomer were ble
nded in different proportions in N,N-dimethylformamide. Simple blends
without ionic groups were also prepared. Miscibility enhancement in th
ese systems was studied by means of differential scanning calorimetry
and scanning electron microscopy.
