Ma. Haque et al., RESPONSE OF PROSE MILLET (PANICUM-MILIACEUM) TO MAJOR AND MINOR NUTRIENTS IN GREY FLOODPLAIN SOIL OF BANGLADESH, Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 66(2), 1996, pp. 91-94
A field experiment was conducted at Jamalpur during 3 consecutive grow
ing seasons of 1990-91, 1992-92 and 1992-93 to study the effect of dif
ferent levels of fertilization on the yield and nutrient uptake of pro
se millet (Panicum uniliaceum L.) in grey flood-plain soils. The grain
and straw yields were significantly higher due to the application of
chemical fertilizers. Content and uptake of N, P. K and S were signifi
cantly increased by the addition of respective nutrients. N and P had
marked effect in increasing the grain yield in all the years. The aver
age highest grain yield of 2 tonnes/ha was obtained by the treatment N
90P60K75S10Zn5.
