The phenotypic stability of 14 genotypes of buckwheat(Fagopyrum escule
ntum Moench) grown in 5 different environments was studied for 4 trail
s. viz plant height, branches/plant, days to maturity and seed yield.
Variances due to genotypes. environments, genotype (G) x environment (
E) and environment (linear) were significant for all the trails. Linea
r and non-linear components showed predominant G x E interaction fir p
lant height and branches/plant, whereas non-linear component for days
to maturity and yield. The most stable genotypes for different traits
were 'Sangla' for plant height. 'Harsowska' for branches/plant and ear
liness, and 'VHC 27' for seed yield. The genotypes with high mean perf
ormance possessed low stability.
