Abstract
The importance of 'concept' in the study of terms is recognized by mos t researchers in the field. However, the theoretical status of 'concep t' in the study of terms has not been clarified so far. Against this b ackground, the status of 'concept' in the study of terms is theoretica lly examined in this paper, in comparison with the status of 'meaning' in the semantic study of general languages. Then a possible perspecti ve is sketched from which 'concept' and 'meaning' are properly placed in the theoretical study of terms.
