A quadratic isoparametric boundary element formulation has been used t
o solve numerically a set of new combined field integral equations (NC
FIEs) for electromagnetic scattering in which the unknowns are the ele
ctric and magnetic fields themselves rather than related potentials. T
reatment of weakly and strongly singular integrals appearing in the eq
uations is based on subtraction and regularization, including its appl
ication to Cauchy principal values. Results for an appropriate related
Green's identity are used to indicate efficiency and accuracy. Corres
ponding solutions obtained from the full equations for the differentia
l scattering cross-section distribution with respect to scattering ang
les are compared with exact results for a dielectric sphere and provid
e good agreement.
