This work presents the results of radiographic examination of the effe
ct of a boron microaddition (approximately 0.003% B by mass) on carbon
distributions in iron-based alloys cooled at different cooling rates
from the austenitization temperature. The preferential segregation of
boron at grain boundaries has been shown to raise the carbon content a
nd to improve the carbon distribution uniformity within the grains.
