Single crystals of CuO(Cu,Mg)(3) [(AS(0.7)P(0.3))O-4](2) have been pre
pared by crystallization from melts. The compound crystallizes with tr
iclinic symmetry, space group C-i(1)-<P(1)over bar>, a = 6.372(4), b =
7.643(7), c = 8.175(5) Angstrom, alpha = 98.59(6), beta = 112.26(3),
gamma = 99.03(3)degrees, Z = 2. CuO(Cu,Mg)(3)[(As0,7P0,3)O-4](2) is is
otypic to CU4(PO4)(2)O. X-ray investigations show square planar CuO4 p
olygons, twisted tetragonal CuO5 pyramids, CuO5 bipyramids and elongat
ed (Cu,Mg)O-6 octahedra.
