Abstract
Methanolothermal reaction of M(2)CO(3) (M = Rb, Cs) with E(2)Se(3) (E = As, Sb) and Se at temperatures in the range 180 - 200 degrees C lead s to the formation of tetraselenidoarsenates(V) and -antimonates(V) M( 3)ESe(4) in moderate to quantitative yields. All four compounds crysta llize in the (NH4)(3)AsS4 structure type (space group Pnma) and contai n isolated slightly distorted tetrahedral ESe(4)(3-) anions with cryst allographic C-S symmetry. Both of the independent cations are coordina ted in an irregular manner by seven Se atoms.
