The new phosphinocyclotriphosphane (t-BuP)(2)P-P(SnMe(3))(2) (1) has b
een obtained by reaction of di-tert-butylchlorocyclotriphosphane with
tris(trimethylstannyl)phosphane, and has been isolated in pure form. T
he yellow solid is stable below 0 degrees C under inert conditions. Co
mpound 1 is a dynamic molecule, as the P atom of the [bis(trimethylsta
nnyl)phosphino] group has a very low barrier to inversion due to the b
ulky and electropositive Me(3)Sn substituents.
