Abstract
Various (substituted pyrazol-5-yl)acetic acids (2c, d, i-n) have been prepared from the acid hydrolysis of respective (pyrazol-5-yl)acetonit riles (1). The acid-catalysed condensation-cyclization of 1 with thios emicarbazide leads to the formation of 2-amino-5-(pyrazol-5-ylmethyl)- 1, 3, 4-thiadiazoles (3a-j) which on reaction with phenacyl bromide yi eld 6. The analogous reaction of If with 4-(thiazol-2-yl)thiosemicarba zide in TFA affords 4. Interaction of 1 with dicyandiamide under basic condition yields 5.
