Abstract
A form of sexual reproduction in Laurencia poiteaui (Lamouroux) Howe w as observed in a subtidal population in Puerto Rico, Caribbean Sea. In these algae, determinate lateral branchlets with well developed rhizo ids were released from parent plants. The released propagules were sho wn to readily attach to substratum in culture and develop into larger plants.
