We use the method of QCD sum rules to investigate both the DELTA-N and
SIGMA0-LAMBDA mass splittings. In the case of the DELTA-N mass splitt
ing, our numerical results indicate that the mass splitting is dominat
ed primarily by the quark-gluon condensate [0\g(c)qsigma(munu)BAR(lamb
da(a)/2)G(a)(munu)q\0] and the observed mass splitting may be understo
od. In the case of SIGMA0-LAMBDA mass splitting, we obtain a value of
about 66 MeV, which is slightly smaller than the observed value of 77
MeV.
