Wd. Bates et al., PREGNANCY IN PARTIALLY REMITTED HEPATITIS B-ASSOCIATED MEMBRANOUS GLOMERULONEPHRITIS, International journal of gynaecology and obstetrics, 52(2), 1996, pp. 163-165
Hepatitis B-associated glomerulonephritis is a relatively common cause
of nephrotic syndrome in endemic areas affecting especially male chil
dren. When this disease affects girls or women, both the glomerular di
sease and the hepatitis B carrier state could affect subsequent pregna
ncies. This may be the first reported case of such a pregnancy. In thi
s patient the partially remitted renal disease and the reduced infecti
vity of the hepatitis B carrier state decreased the influence of the d
isease on the pregnancy.
