A natural solution to the hierarchy problem of the standard model is t
o assume new physics to appear at the TeV scale. We parametrize the ef
fects of this new physics in terms of an effective Lagrangian and exam
ine its impact on electroweak baryogenesis. We point out that with suc
h an effective Langrangian successful electroweak baryogenesis implies
(i) the Higgs boson lies within the reach of CERN LEP II; and (ii) el
ectric dipole moments of the electron and neutron are detectable in th
e near future.
