PARTICULATE MATERIALS RESEARCH AND APPLICATIONS AT GAZI-UNIVERSITY, TURKEY

There has been an R & D initiative in particulate materials at Gazi Un iversity for more than two decades with ongoing programs in environmen tal research, powder metallurgy and education. Under the Research Cent er for Energy, Environment and Industrial Rehabilitation, studies focu s on improvement of efficiency and control of emissions from boilers a nd stoves, and alternative regional heating systems. Powder metallurgy research, performed in close collaboration with the Turkish P/M and c eramics industries, ranges from powder production to the fabrication o f finished parts, with emphasis on processing - microstructure - prope rty relations. A broad base of financial support from government and i ndustry exists and this is reflected in an enviable inventory of equip ment and facilities for particulate materials R & D. The Turkish Metal lurgy Society was formed recently with headquaters at Gazi University.
