M. Fendek, THE MULTICRITERIA AND MULTI LEVEL EVALUAT ION OF MANUFACTURING CAPACITIES OF INDUSTRIAL FIRMS IN THE SLOVAK-REPUBLIC, Ekonomicky casopis, 43(10), 1995, pp. 746-763
Transition of Slovak economy from a centrally planned to market econom
y requires to solve following specific problems in an organization and
development perspectives of state production potential: industrial Fm
s privatization; sectors restructuralization; weapon production conver
sion; firms production program innovation; an active input into Europe
an economical space. There is a natural interest of the state to suppo
rt a production potential development. However, an objectivity in deci
sion making supposes an existence of firm's information database from
which it is possible to formulate quantitative problems of firms, sect
ors' economy efficiency, and to evaluate strategic variants of their d
evelopment. In the article is presented model's approach tovard evalua
ting manufacturing potential of firms and branches. Outranking methods
are used to evaluate a firms or sectors production potential level fr
om a multiple criteria viewpoints. Firms, sectors or their combination
s with special hierarchy represent variants or alternatives. Each of v
ariants is described through a vector of economic characteristics. Fir
ms database structures include financial information about firms that
are developed form balance sheets. The firm database also includes inf
ormation about corresponding sector and regional information. A basic
information about privatization process in firm's sector and region an
d information about foreign capital in firm's sector is included as we
ll. A goal of the resulted model is to outrank developed variants. The
re is a software package M3V, which has been developed at the Departme
nt of Operations Research and Econometrics at the University of Econom
ics in Bratislava, which enables to solve such kind of problems. The t
hree level tree structure of variants is assumed and the package uses
a rating method and PROMETHEE outranking methods is applied.
