G. Jasmin, OPERATING EXPERIENCE OF THE JOINT SCOTT-PAPER AND CRABTREE MUNICIPALITY EFFLUENT TREATMENT SYSTEM, Pulp & paper Canada, 97(2), 1996, pp. 48-50
Over three years of operating experience, three major problems were en
countered with this treatment facility. They include flotation on the
primary sedimentation clarifier, foam on the aeration basin and filame
ntous sludge bulking. Causes of these problems are discussed and solut
ions presented. The conclusion stresses that sludge dewatering capacit
y is critical and must satisfy seasonal needs, that spill protection i
s essential and that treatment system clean-out strategies are require
d. Finally, it is shown that deinking effluents need specific treatmen
t plant configurations.
