MACROECONOMIC LINKAGES TO AGRICULTURE - A GENERAL EQUILIBRIUM-MODEL FOR SUDAN

Unfavourable macro-economic conditions are often blamed for the failur e of devaluation and liberalisation policies to correct the bias again st agricultural exports in Sudan. A general equilibrium model, with an endogenous money creation mechanism, is constructed and econometrical ly estimated to analyse macro-economic linkages to agriculture in Suda n. Stronger economic performance is achieved when exchange rate adjust ments and liberalisation are supported with fiscal and monetary contro l and less indirect taxation.
