Abstract
A six-feature all-sky star field identification algorithm is developed to match approximately detected star fields with reference star field s. It is also integrated with a CCD-based imaging camera. The experime ntal performance of the star pattern identification algorithm was test ed and verified at the Table Mountain Observatory. A set of observator y tests on star fields with this intelligent camera are presented. (C) 1996 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers.
