Lj. An et al., MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES AND MISCIBILITY OF POLYETHERSULFONE PHENOXY BLENDS, Journal of applied polymer science, 59(12), 1996, pp. 1843-1847
The blends of polyethersulfone and phenoxy were prepared by melt mixin
g in a Brabender-like apparatus. The specimens for measurements were m
ade by compression molding and then were water-quenched at room temper
ature under pressure. The tensile strength, tensile modulus, elongatio
n at break and yield, density, thermal analysis, and dynamic mechanica
l properties were each measured. The dependence of tensile strength, t
ensile modulus, elongation at break and yield, and density on composit
ion was obtained. The relationship between tensile modulus and elongat
ion at break and yield and speed of the crosshead at different weight
ratios of the blends is shown. The effects of composition and miscibil
ity on the mechanical properties are discussed. (C) 1996 John Wiley &
