Abstract
The influence of two Spanish fly ashes (ASTM class F) with high total alkali content (equivalent to 2.0% and 2.6% Na2O) on the alkalinity le vels of the pore solutions expressed from hydrated portland cement pas tes was studied during a period of 90 days from mixing. Mixtures with 0%, 15%, and 35% replacement of cement by fly ash were prepared with a water/mixture ratio of 0.4. The effect of the fly ash on the pore sol ution depended mainly on the age and fineness of the fly ash.
