V. Puri et al., NMR AND OTHER STUDIES OF CAPRYLALDEHYDE ISONICOTINOYL HYDRAZONE AND ITS METAL-COMPLEXES, National Academy Science Letters, 18(9-10), 1995, pp. 167-171
A new hydrazone Schiff base ligand namely caprylaldehyde isonicotinoyl
hydrazone (CINH) has been synthesised and characterised by H-1-NMR and
electronic elemental analysis, IR, spectroscopy. The signal due to az
omethinic proton H-C=N is observed at 8.50 ppm. Several bipositive met
al ions were employed to form complexes. Thermal degradation of the co
mplexes has been examined up to 1000 degrees C and the force constants
of M-O and M-N bonds evaluated. The mode of complexation in enolic fo
rm of the ligand in 4-coordinated complexes has been discussed.
