Abstract
A formal kinetic model is developed for the electrochemical behavior o f iron in inhibited acid solutions. The model reproduces the phenomeno n of acceleration of the cathodic reaction with an increase in the inh ibitor concentration. The conventional determination of the electrode reaction orders in the electrolyte components from the polarization me asurements is shown to be incorrect.
