H. Sekiguchi et al., DETERMINATION OF THE LOCATION OF FAULTING BENEATH KOBE DURING THE 1995 HYOGO-KEN NANBU, JAPAN, EARTHQUAKE FROM NEAR-SOURCE PARTICLE MOTION, Geophysical research letters, 23(4), 1996, pp. 387-390
We constrained the location of faulting beneath Kobe during the 1995 H
yogo-ken Nanbu (Kobe), Japan, earthquake by investigating the particle
motion of strong motion records from sites close to the causative fau
lt. The intersection of the earth's surface and the extension of burie
d fault plane is consistent with known active fault lines but not with
the severely damaged zone. The intersection line also agrees with geo
detic data.
