Abstract
An overview is given of high-rate gamma spectroscopy as it is related to the field of activation analysis of short-lived isomeric transition s. The transistor reset preamplifier is a prerequisite for HRGS and gi ves optimum performance together with n-type HPGe detectors. Gated int egrators are replaced as pulse processors for HRGS by the recently dev eloped Preloaded Filter. A digital implementation of the PLF guarantee s very good resolution, excellent stability and high throughput rate w ithout A/D-conversion dead-time.
