Distribution of Al, Hf, Mn, Sc, Ti and V in both bulk- and magnetic fr
actions of Lake Nasser sediments has been investigated. The elements w
ere analyzed by means of short-time activation analysis. The results s
how that the most southern part of the lake are enriched with Hf, Mn a
nd V. It was also indicated that, with the exception of Al, all studie
d elements have higher values in magnetic fractions compared with the
corresponding values in bulk sediment. The considerable amounts of Mn,
Ti and V in the magnetic fractions may possibly be attributed to the
accommodation of these elements within the Fe-bearing minerals.
