J. Keuschnigg, RESULTS WITH A HURRICLON CENTRIFUGAL SEPA RATOR FOR DEDUSTING A ROLLER GRINDING MILL, ZKG international. Edition B, 46(12), 1993, pp. 775-777
For a comparable external diameter the so-called Hurriclon double dip
tube separator, developed by Voest-Alpine Finaltechnik. Krems. is capa
ble of achieving a substantially higher volume throughput than convent
ional cyclone separators at very low pressure losses. In many applicat
ions this means that it is possible to dedust the existing gas volume
flow with only one separator. This can result in great cost savings by
dispensing with rotary feeder valves, wear linings and steel structur
es; the lower total investment costs then lead to greater cost-effecti
veness. In order to achieve maximum energy saving it is also possible
to instal a dip tube distributor which is almost as simple as the dip
tube itself. This dip tube distributor has already been used with grea
t success in the cement industry in diameters of up to 1800 mm. Pay-ba
ck times of less than 2 years are achieved when dip tube distributors
are retrofitted to existing cyclone separators. Installation of new ce
ntrifugal separators using the Hurriclon system pays for itself in abo
ut 3 to 4 years just through the energy which can be saved Some fairly
recent results are given which were obtained during the dedusting of
a roller grinding mill used at Harz Kalk GmbH as a comparison with con
ventional cyclone separators.
