Abstract
The structure of the O-specific side chain of the E, coli O26 lipopoly saccharide has been investigated. Based on sugar and methylation analy ses, and 2D NMR spectroscopy employing HMBC experiments, it is conclud ed that the polysaccharide is composed of trisaccharide repeating unit s having the following structure: --> 3)-alpha-L-Rha p-(1 --> 4)-alpha -L-Fuc pNAc-(1 --> 3)-beta-D-Glc pNAc-(1 -->
