Abstract
The management of pertussis in clinical practice comprises the treatme nt of the index case and the search for contact cases (secondary ou pr imary) in the household. Because of the poor sensitivity of bacterial confirmation, clinical criteria remain the most useful. Such inquiries may also facilitate the case notification and estimation of vaccine e fficacy.
