Abstract
Nucleophilic degradation of cyclo-octasulfur by the diphosphinomethani de derivative [Mn(CO)(4)-{(PPh(2))(2)CH}] (2) yields (CO)(4)Mn{(PPh(2) )(2)C-S-6-C(PPh(2))(2)}Mn(CO)(4)] (3), a complex containing the first example of a hexasulfur-bridged tetraphosphinobis(methanide) ligand. I n the molecular structure of 3, determined by a single-crystal X-ray s tructural analysis, the conformation of the C-S-6-C chain may be regar ded as arising from an opened S-6 ring, with terminal groups attached in trans positions.
